First Leg Of The Triple Crown To Run June 20th

The 152nd running of the Belmont Stakes will kick off this year's Triple Crown rather than the Kentucky Derby. The Belmont stakes will be run Saturday, June 20 at Belmont Park. Post time is 5:42 p.m. ET.

This year the Triple Crown like many other things in life is being the effects by Covid 19. While the Triple Crown is traditionally decided over five weeks starting with the Kentucky Derby running on the first Saturday in May than the Preakness on third Saturday of May and concluding with the Belmont on the first or second Saturday of June, but this year it will take place over 15 weeks.

The Belmont Stakes race is typically a mile and a half in length, but the length of the race will be a mile and eighth on Saturday. This makes it the shortest race rather than longest which it usually is. There will be no spectators, but there will be wagering. The Kentucky Derby will be run on the first Saturday in September and the Preakness the first Saturday of October.
